Warwickshire Cottage
Sometimes you have to create a plot rather than buy the perfect package, especially in popular locations where good sites are rare. In this instance our resourceful clients very cleverly stitched together a couple of sections of various gardens (and overcame a major drainage obstacle) to create pretty village plot in their ideal location. The cottage is a testament to their vision and determination.
Bright spacious family home
We designed Warwickshire Cottage together with our clients, a young family. Traditional architectural details such as brick arches, dentil courses, bay windows and oak porches were introduced to elevate the elevations – and offer a hint at what lies within. A local brick was chosen for the external finish to ensure it sat well within the neighbouring homes and satisfied the planners wishes.
Internally the house is beautifully finished with a modern and timeless approach using a considered palette of light and neutral tones, punctuated with moments of colour but always allowing the oak frame to shine.
The layout has bene cleverly conceived to bring in light and create a sense of space and journey – with a partially open plan ground floor plan that if offset so there is always something to delight just around the corner.

Warwickshire Cottage was designed to reflect the local vernacular – and maximise the shape and orientation of their assembled plot. The task was to celebrate the potential and minimise the hurdles, whilst working around existing trees and land level changes with tight boundaries.
