Our ‘Classic’ outbuilding bay system was explicitly designed to capture all of our expertise and knowledge and to provide a simple, cost effective yet beautiful and substantial range of buildings.
Designed with vernacular proportions and constructed from the best natural materials and craftsman techniques, a Border Oak outbuilding will complement and enhance any setting – and last a lifetime or two.
Classic Bay System
Our pre engineered bay system is remarkably flexible with an almost infinite number of configurations that can be created from the primary design range. Structures can be added to one another to create attractive combinations. Bay widths, depths and heights are also variable.
Doors, windows, staircases, internal partitions, upgraded insulation, porches and logstores can be added.
Some models also incorporate rooms above – for additional accommodation, workshop or storage.
Bespoke Garages
Our Classic Range has been designed to be infinitely adaptable, but if you require further changes or would like a bespoke building our in-house design team can work with you to achieve this. We are also happy to work with existing designs or alongside your own architect. Our bespoke buildings have been used for party barns and agricultural barns, shops and accommodation, pool houses and granny annexes.

How did it all start?
A chance visit to a farm near Hay-on-Wye led John Greene to an untouched 14th-century cruck barn – just days from demolition. On impulse he bought it, dismantled it peg by peg and later re- erected it in his orchard. This was beginning of Border Oak.
