Outbuildings
We design and make a huge range of outbuildings and ancillary structures.
Our outbuildings use the same materials and specification our our homes – only the finest Restoration Grade green oak, highest quality weatherboarding with roof coverings to suit. The design options are endless, you can chose to work with our ‘Classic’ range which works on the premise of traditional bays in a variety of dimensions, or commission us to create a bespoke structure. Stair cases, dormer windows, log stores, doors and windows, open or enclosed bays – the possibilities are endless.

Self Assembly Kits
Most of our ‘Classic’ range of oak framed outbuildings have been designed and engineered with self assembly in mind. We are builders ourselves so really understand how to make frames and components that can be erected easily and quickly. We do as much of the work as possible in our workshop to ensure that site time is minimised and the various parts are ready to install – even cutting birds mouths on the rafters and assemble as many of our weatherboard panels here as possible so they can be simply lifted in to place (rather than you having to fit each board!).
We test assemble every thing before it leaves us and dispatch the kit with a package of oak pegs and dipping oil. If you have a project in mind just get in touch to chat through how we might be able to help.
Little Barns, Annexes & Cabins
We have a growing range of oak framed buildings designed for extra accommodation – home offices, annexes, studios, lodges, holiday cabins, workshops or home gym for example.
Each bespoke building is designed to meet your needs and to complement the main property and its setting. Our ancillary buildings can be fully insulated, and serviced and are designed and built to be sustainable and long lasting – and adaptable should your needs alter.

Do you need Planning Permission?
Planning approval is not always required for garden structures and outbuildings.
Many houses benefit from Permitted Development Rights which may enable you to erect a structure without formal submission. We have designed many of our outbuildings to meet the requirements of Permitted Development.
You will need planning approval if any of the following criteria apply:
- The structure is to be erected in the grounds of a Listed Building, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Conservation Area, National Park or equivalent.
- The proposed structure will be in front of the main house and closer to a highway, footpath, access road etc.
- The ridge of the building is higher than 4 meters (NB: many of our Classic models are under 4m)
The Classic Range
Our ‘Classic’ range of outbuildings is a collection of adaptable oak framed structures – pre designed and engineered – with flexible layouts and a range of adaptable dimensions. The bay system of the Classic models can be extended, or added to – with a variety of features such as windows, barn doors, stair cases, log stores – and the models can be combined to make courtyards & complexes.
